New remix track

I am proud to announce that Salakapakka Sound System has one remix track on a brand new Derek Piotr´s remix album "Agora Regathered". Salakapakka Sound System made a remix of his track Behaviour state. Get it from bitsquare or from Experimedia.

Rapidshare files deleted

Rapidshare has announced that most of my files will be deleted since I did not extend my RapidPro. That means I have to upload some older stuff at mediafire and megaupload. That is going to take some time. Luckily, most of SSS stuff is available at other places as well. If there is some specific files you´re after, just let me know.

New compilation track

Salakapakka Sound System track untitled piece for kantele #1 is part of a new web compilation "Soinoise vol.2: SIDS". Remember the kantele which got my hands on recently? As you can guess by the title, this track is made entirely by using that particular instrument and a few effects. Here is what Pawel, the person behind soinoise, has to say:

"The second installment in the Soinoise cycle has become a fact. A fact strangely intriguing and painful, not to mention – international.
This new reality has been subordinated to the sound of musical instruments. That was the starting point – as little electronics and as much live sound as possible. With time, it has evolved a little towards a game with the audience – a game of pretenses and outright trickery. However, the plan of constructing a coherent and constructive statement on instrumental music has been fulfilled.
This compilation lets us lean over certain somewhat forgotten (sometimes literally) instruments and see (or rather hear) if they still have anything to offer. We can analyze single sounds as well as their combinations that dissolve unintelligibly into one another. This freedom, openness, lends itself to the structure of the compositions themselves. Some of them are complete and well thought-out, for some, the word improvisation becomes a none too accurate euphemism.
One should remember that, rather than mere listening, our experience of music is a form of communion."

New stuff

There has been a number of times when someone asks about or suggests that I should find a "proper" label for releasing my stuff. Now there are two brand new releases ready to go and I am (quite inactively though) searching for labels which might find them interesting enough for a "proper" release.
First one is a full length called "Penetrating angel". It is kind of mixed noise and dark ambient stuff. Four tracks lasting nearly an hour. Second one is a 3" cd called "iDiot" and it is mostly 'rhythmic dark dance music with experimental edge'. This doesn´t mean that I quit releasing stuff for free... far from that.
All interested parties just take contact. Otherwise I end up selling only physical copies of them at my site. Until then you have to deal only with cover pictures. Believe me, they are probably the best stuff I´ve done so far.

DEREK PIOTR / SALAKAPAKKA SOUND SYSTEM: Behaviour State

Brand new collaborational album with Derek Piotr. It is basically a remix-of-a-remix-of-a-remix... album. Here´s what Derek has to say about this project: "I have always had a great adoration for Finnish music, from the fiddle driven beautiful folk music, to the coarse sounding joik, to electronic Finn wizards Pan Sonic and Vladislav Delay. in fact, Antye Greie (known as AGF) is the woman who programmed much of the original Behaviour State track, and she lives with Delay on an island off the coast of Finland. Much of this year has seen me rubbing elbows with Finnish producers, from Jari Pitkänen to Marko V, of Salakapakka Sound System. I have admired his work for a long time and after over a year he and I finally connected. one of the first exchanges we had happened when he decided to send me base files of a track he was working on, called Motorond. these stems eventually became my track Behaviour State, which is in a nuanced way a statement on social networking and passive mind-control. AGF then processed what I had built from Marko's files to create a poweful track indeed. I brought this to Marko and we decided that since I had "remixed" his work, we should continue the flow with a full remix split effort. the end product is what you see here."

Koneet käynnistyvät hitaasti mutta varmasti ja pakottavasti. Tällä tehtaalla juomisen
sijasta aloitellaan kunnon ryyppäämistä. Nyt kootaan työkalut ja raaka-aineet ja ryhdytään
kittaamaan. Ensin hissun kissun, mutta prässi kasvaa koko ajan, dokaaminen ei ole amatöörien hommaa. Ensimmäiset painavat asiat sanotaan ääneen ja kovemmalla äänenpainoilla yhä isommalle joukolle. Siitä saatte ja siitä sulle kans.

Tokalla viikolla lasilliset ja pullolliset kaatuvat kurkusta alas kuin liukuhihnalla.

sinnittelee ja yrittää käynnistää juomakonettaan. Kellään ei ole hyvä olo, painajaiset
vaivaavat, jano on hirmuinen ja tarjolla on vaan suolavettä keskellä vellovaa merta.
Ja lopuksi unessakin on kohdattava jokin, joka katsoo pakottavasti silmiin.

Kolmas viikko. Päässä pyörii, lentokoneen moottori pörisee ja pätkii. Kuviot taivalla
ovat katkonaisia ja immelmannit jäävät puolitiehen kun pilotilla katse harittaa ja juttu
katkeilee. Vaarallisen näköistä sakkamista, huteraa menoa ja hallinnan puutetta.
Katkonaisia selityksiä ja muistikuvia. Nestevajausta ja ravinnon puutetta. Huonoa
seuraa ja itsetilityksiä. Kiiltäviä naamoja ja leijumaan jääviä lauseita. Tarkentumattomia
fokuksia ja kaksoiskuvia. Avaruusolentoja ja muita uhkaavia organismeja. Paskan maku suussa.
Vitutus. Sydämen lyöntitiheys kasvaa ja paniikkihäiriö alkaa painostaa. Karkuun ei pääse,
olotila naulaa jalat lattiaan. Voiko tähän kadota, pääsenkö enää takaisin..? Nyt ei ole
enää hauskaa. Joku jaksaa vielä juoda, minä en.

Lopuksi matkalla jonnekin. Valoja. Tärinää. Yö, katuvalot vilistävät ohi.
Jostain tulee raitista ilmaa. Muistikuvia raskaasta ryyppäämisestä vilisee silmissä.
Kumman kevyt olo. Missäköhän olen? Joku avaruusolento vielä yrittää sanoa mulle jotain,

Leaving off for a holiday. After few weeks probably back with some fresh ideas and new sound material. From now on I´ll use megaupload and mediafire, rapidshare for as long as my account exists without paying anything extra. Three brand new kaamoshows @ my other blog.

not dead yet

Been quiet lately, but it doesn´t mean I´ve been just sitting home watching tv. Some new tracks are on their way, one of them is actually an instrumental doom metal piece which I am not quite sure what to do with it. A week ago I finally got my hands on my second-hand kantele (kind of Finnish zipher). First track made by that is already at the final mixing stage and you probably can hear it in a web compilation later this year at Soinoise blog.

Sadly it looks like dear Brad Miller decided to delete his awesome Because God Told Me To -blog and Kill Your Gods -site. Brad have been a great supporter for SSS and his blog was one of the very first blogs out there which I´ve been following regularly. Sad to see them go but he propably got his reasons for doing this and I respect it. Cheers for everything, Brad, if you´re reading this. Those sites gone missing means also that some links to SSS material no longer exist. This means that I have to re-up them and it takes some time.

Gear-a-holic part 8

It has been quiet lately but that´s ok by me. At least one new track in Vote with a brick -series will be uploaded in a near future.
I was visiting Lapland lately and while going through old and new garbage at a local flea market I found this junk treasure:It is an old (supposely made in 60´s) 32-string kantele. Normally I would pay very little attention to such thing but this one was a robust, broken piece which resonates nicely and was way out of tune. I instantly fell in love with the 'broken sound' of it (and the low price of 40 euros). It needs a little repair and a few extra strings but after that it will be nice little noise maker (it is quite large actually). Lovely!

EYEWITNESS PROTECTION PROGRAM

Head over at Spettro to get brand new Salakapakka Sound System web album "Eyewitness protection program", collection of tracks made in 2010 which did not fit in "War". Stylishly it is more in the vein of "Kallokontrolli" than "War", meaning that there is some noise, some more ambient stuff , guitar impovisation and even elements of thrash metal and hardcore techno.
